Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lung. It is often characterized as including inflammation of the parenchyma of the lung (that is, the alveoli) and abnormal alveolar filling with fluid (consolidation and exudation) 肺炎是指肺部發炎，通常由微生物引起，包括細菌(bacteria)、病毒(virus)、真菌(fungus)等或其他因素所致的肺部炎症。肺炎的徵狀、治療、預防，要看病因、患者的一般健康狀況，以及其他的因素（如藥物治療的效果）而定。
